The Mangla Devi Temple, a hindu temple, situated in Idukki is one of the best places to visit in Thekkady. This temple is located within the Periyar wildlife reserve and is surrounded by forests. You can reach the temple only in a jeep.

It is said that Cheran Chenguttuvan, the king of ancient Tamilakam, built the temple some 1000 years back. The temple has been made from granite blocks and is famous for its fascinating Pandyan architecture. Unlike other temples, the devotees can only worship the Devi during the time of Chitrapournami festival, which falls in the month of April/May.
