Tyrna Double decker trek

Tyrna double decker trek Cherrapunji Sightseeing

Located at a distance of 15km from Cherrapunji, the 3000 steps trek is physically exhausting and tests our endurance to the core, but the scenic beauty along with a sense of adventure coupled with the mesmerising sound of the nearby waterfalls makes the trek worth the effort.

“The journey is more important than the destination”, aptly defines the entire experience of the trek as it involves going through two narrow suspended rope bridges over swiftly flowing rivers, walking through traditional sacred groves of the tribal communities and the chilling yet serene view of the rainforest reminds of a scene from the Arnold starring “Predator” movie.

After a tiring trek for more than an hour and a half, One reaches the double-decker root bridge. The sight of the bridge brings to our mind the peaceful, sustainable coexistence of the tribal communities with Mother Nature.

Where to stay: Homestay at cheap rates is available in the villages around the double-decker bridge. A stay here provides an opportunity to interact with the villagers along with many foreign tourists.
