It is an old temple dedicated to Goddess Durga, located at a distance of approximately 7 kms from Ranikhet. According to a popular folklore, the temple was built to protect the villagers from the attacks of wild animals. The dense jungle near the village was once full of wild animals like leopards, tigers etc. who used to attack the local villagers quite often. The villagers prayed to Goddess Durga and one day she appeared in the dreams of one of the Shepherd’s and advised him to unearth her idol from a nearby place.

The temple was built at the same spot from where the idol was excavated. It is believed that your wish can get fulfilled if you offer sincere prayers to Goddess Jhula Devi. Once your prayers have been answered, you need to come again to thank Jhula Devi Maa by offering a bell to the temple. That’s the reason, the temple has so many bells hanging all around the temple.

There is another temple dedicated to Lord Rama which is situated very near to Jhula Devi temple. A set of stairs lead to the hilltop where the temple is located.
