Things to Do In Koh Samui – Most Popular Nightlife Spots

Over the years, Koh Samui has gained a reputation as a major holiday destination of southern Thailand, with its great array of nightlife entertainment options. And the notorious Koh Samui nightlife Full Moon party is its USP. These full moon parties attract between 3,000 and 10,000 visitors to this small island every month. Due to the success of these events, the island now also hosts Half Moon, and even Black Moon parties. There are so many things to do in Koh Samui that it makes for a perfect tourist destination for everyone.

The biggest entertainment zone on the Samui Island is Chaweng, which plays host to a myriad of lounge clubs, naughty bars, beach bars, and discos. Then there are the main resort towns of the island – Lamai, Bophut, and Maenam – which also have some interesting night spots to hang out in.

Here is my list of things to do in Koh Samui for a great night out

Ark Bar, Chaweng

This lively cosmopolitan beach-front venue has been around for quite a few years and is known for its chill-out groove. As one of the best bars in Koh Samui, it draws in scores of like-minded travellers from all around the world. The bar cum restaurant has many things going for it, from its fire dancers, fire shows, dining and dancing on the beach to its funky DJs and its relaxed atmosphere.

Bar Solo, Chaweng

Bar Solo Samui is a stylish two-storey bar and club found by the side of Chaweng Beach Road. This Ibiza-style club has a cool, sleek look with its six plasma TV screens, a pool table and half-price cocktails. As one of the top Koh Samui nightlife attractions, it is a popular choice for partygoers who want to kickstart their night into action. It, therefore, does not come as a surprise that the bar stools and tables fill up early here, with the dance floor following close behind. For all party lovers, the list of best things to do in Koh Samui seems endless.

Nikki Beach Samui, Lipa Noi

Nikki Beach Samui is a state-of-the-art resort and trendy beach club located in Lipa Noi, on the western coast of Samui. The jet-setter crowd of Koh Samui nightlife can be found hanging out at the club’s cool tropical beachfront enjoying its expansive buffets, live performances, beach barbecues, film screenings and more. The club is also known for its chic settings, a festive atmosphere, top-notch catering, and deliciously potent cocktails. I believe, enjoying the atmosphere of this place is one of the best things to do in Koh Samui if you are visiting the island with your friends.

Legends Bar, Chaweng Beach

This long-established waterhole on Chaweng Beach Road is located in the heart of Koh Samui’s prime resort town, close to Soi Green Mango. This cool bar belts out some of the best music including all the classics from the ‘60s to the ‘90s: rock, pop, hard and the blues. Legends Bar is the place for music aficionados who love listening to original music played with real instruments. All music lovers, make sure this place is in your list of things to do in Koh Samui.

Woobar, Maenam

Part of the stylish W Retreat Koh Samui, Woobar is a modern upscale resort that features a large outdoor deck with swimming pool. The bar features a stunning contemporary style that offers a panoramic view of the sea. Despite it not directly facing the sunset, it does offer a pleasant sundowner spot. The place charges an entry fee that can be redeemed against food and beverages.

Soi Green Mango, Chaweng

Known as the epicentre of the party central that is Chaweng, Soi Green Mango is home to cheap drinks, loud music and good times. Without it, Koh Samui nightlife and the clubbing scene of Chaweng would be incomplete. The street has a couple of cool bars and some of the best clubs in Koh Samui to hang out in such as the Solo Club, Sweet Soul Café, Mint Bar, Ark Bar and Sound Pub. It is one of the best things to do in Koh Samui if you are looking out for a casual outing option.

Coco Tams, Bophut

This extremely fun and popular Koh Samui party beach bar is located just outside of The Wharf Samui. Coco Tams has everything needed in an ideal Koh Samui nightlife beach bar – beanbags on the beach, swing seats at the bar, shisha, cabanas and even a large projector screen. The venue has an open-air arrangement, and looks like an easy-going rustic beach bar, with palm trees and people swaying to some vibrant tunes.

Bar Ice Samui, Chaweng

Bar Ice Samui is an ice-walled bar that has its internal temperature set to -7°C, creating a temperature difference of about 40°C from outside. This chilly bar is located a relatively short walk from the Soi Green Mango by Chaweng Lake. The bar has loads of fun features and events happening there at all times, making it one of the most lively bars in Chaweng and a great representative of the Koh Samui nightlife.

Lady Boys Cabaret Shows, Chaweng & Lamai

For those with, ahem, select entertainment needs, Ladyboy Cabaret is the place for you. Even for those who are not seeking this kind of entertainment, I definitely recommend adding this place to the list of things to do in Koh Samui to fully experience the Koh Samui nightlife. You will likely enjoy a fantastic evening with this fun form of entertainment. A typical show here involves lip-synched, skilfully choreographed performances of popular songs, complete with elaborate make-up and costumes, all sprinkled with glitter and glitz.

That’s it from my side. What according to you are the best things to do in Koh Samui? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
